We are delighted that the Water Tower at Haltwhistle has been shortlisted in the National Railway Heritage Awards 2025.  

The Awards recognise and celebrate the restoration and re-use of the built heritage of the railways in the British Isles.  

We are thrilled to have been shortlisted, it is recognition of the resources we committed to the project, the many hours of volunteer time involved, the support of the building owner, Haltwhistle Partnership, and to the local contractors who carried out the work.

The Water Tower built in 1861 to provide water for the steam locomotives used on the railway is a listed building, has seen numerous uses since it ceased to be used for its original purpose.

The awards ceremony is to take place in London on 3 December.

Following extensive repairs and refurbishment, we opened the Water Tower Cafe in September 2024.  It is open Wednesdays to Mondays 10am to 3pm*, so come along take a look at the building, and enjoy a coffee and freshly made food.
