The creativity of people in our local communities has transformed the interior of the waiting room on Platform 1 at Haltwhistle Station as they have researched, and helped to produce interesting contents for a series of exhibitions.

The first exhibition entitled "Something to bark about" was all about dogs. Not only did it provide information about local breeds, it included a wonderful collage of dogs residing in Haltwhistle.

A booklet featuring all the posters is now available to buy in the Water Tower cafe adjacent to the railway station.

In summer 2023, the second exhibition was unveiled featuring the history and heritage of Haltwhistle and surrounding parishes. With so much varied and interesting content, it is well worth a visit to station to learn more about the area.

The third exhibition has been researched by local group Zig Zag and is all about local food.  Plans are being made for the unveiling of the new exhibition in early 2025.  In the meantime, the group have produced some lovely tea towels and aprons, which are now on sale in the Water Tower.
